Public Health System

Medicare system entitles all permanent residents of Australia to free treatment as a public (Medicare) patient in a public hospital, and free or subsidised treatment by a doctor (including treatment by specialists), participating optometrists and dentists for specified services. Private health care is widely available and offered by some employers as part of salary packages.
